Before visiting FCI Fairton, the inmate must add you to their visiting list and the Bureau of Prisons must clear you. The list can include up to ten friends or associates. If the list hasn't been set up yet—say, after initial entry or a transfer—immediate family verified by the Pre‑Sentence Report may still be allowed to visit. You'll need to complete form BP‑A0629, which collects standard ID and demographic details and authorizes release of your criminal history to the Warden for a suitability review. Dress code rules are strict: provocative clothing or anything resembling inmate uniforms (khaki or green military‑type) can get you turned away. Visits are monitored, and appointments may be required. Call ahead to confirm hours and your approval status. Conjugal visits aren't allowed.

FCI Fairton uses TRULINCS, a secure electronic messaging system for inmates to exchange messages with approved contacts. Messages are text-only—no attachments—and capped at 13,000 characters. Both the inmate and each contact must be approved or provide consent through the TRULINCS process before messaging. The system is funded entirely through the Inmate Trust Fund, not taxpayer dollars. Phone calls are monitored, with a notice posted at each inmate telephone. Third-party or alternative call arrangements aren't permitted. TRUFONE call recordings are deleted after 180 days unless kept for legal or administrative reasons. For paid phone or video services, you'll typically need to open an account with the approved vendor and add prepaid funds.

All incoming mail at FCI Fairton is opened and inspected for contraband and anything that could threaten institutional security. Special (privileged/legal) mail is handled differently—it's opened only in the inmate's presence, then inspected using special procedures. Packages from home generally aren't allowed unless the inmate gets prior written approval from their unit team or other authorized staff. The exceptions: release clothing and authorized medical devices can be sent without special approval. Want to send reading material? Hardcover books, magazines, and newspapers must ship directly from the publisher, a book club, or a bookstore. The Warden can reject publications deemed detrimental to security, though publishers can request an independent review of any rejection.

FCI Fairton accepts MoneyGram deposits, but the details must be entered exactly right. Format the account number as the inmate's eight-digit register number immediately followed by their last name (example: 12345678DOE). List the beneficiary as the inmate's full committed name and use MoneyGram receive code 7932. Paying online? You'll need a Visa or MasterCard. Funds sent between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. EST typically post within 2–4 hours. Transfers sent after 9:00 p.m. EST post at 7:00 a.m. the next morning. Other deposit options, fees, and timelines vary—confirm the approved methods before sending.
