Visiting Potter County Jail goes smoothly when you bring the right ID and leave prohibited items behind. Here's what you need to know to avoid getting turned away at check-in.

Registration opens 15 minutes before visiting hours. Get there early - showing up right at the start time means you'll be rushing through check-in.

- ✓ Bring an approved photo ID: a current Texas driver’s license/ID card or a current out-of-state driver’s license/ID card
- ✓ If you’re using a paper (temporary) driver’s license, bring a second picture ID that shows your correct address
- ✓ Military ID works if it’s current
- ✓ Alien identification card works if it’s current
- ✓ Leave cell phones in your car or outside the detention center
- ✓ Leave cameras (any kind) in your car or outside the detention center
- ✓ Leave purses, packages, umbrellas, bags, and other container-type items in your car or outside the detention center
- ✓ Time your arrival: visitor registration opens 15 minutes before visiting hours begin
Quick visit limits to know: Each inmate gets one assigned visitation day per week based on the first letter of their last name. Hours are 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM and 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Only two adults (or one adult with children under 16) can visit at a time, and inmates are limited to two 20-minute in-person, non-contact visits per calendar week.
