Why Adams County Detention Facility Doesn’t Offer In-Person Visits — Remote Options and What to Do Instead
If you were hoping to visit someone in person at Adams County Detention Facility, you'll need to connect another way. Here's what's available, how to use it, and a few solid alternatives when you need more than a video call.
Adams County Detention Facility does not offer in-person (contact) visits. Show up expecting a face-to-face visit and you'll be turned away. Plan around the remote options instead.
Note: Contact visits aren't permitted here. Your best options for regular contact are video, phone, and mail.
Adams County uses HomeWav for remote video visitation and phone calls. Once you're set up, the incarcerated person can initiate video calls with the account holder through the system.
- Create your HomeWav account - You can do this online or through the HomeWav mobile app.
- Select the facility - Choose Adams County Detention Facility when prompted.
- Find and select the inmate - Use the person’s name and make sure you pick the correct profile.
- Add money to the account - Funding the account is part of getting ready to receive video calls.
- ✓ HomeWav video calls cost $0.20 per minute.
- ✓ Video calls have a maximum length of 30 minutes.
- ✓ Phone call charges vary depending on the area being called.
Tip: Calls are charged per minute with a 30-minute cap, so it helps to plan what you want to cover before you answer. Keep an eye on your balance so the call doesn't cut short unexpectedly.
Remote video visitation is available seven days a week across three daily blocks: 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 3:00 PM to 5:45 PM, and 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
One detail to watch: Max and Intake inmates have remote visitation only until 9:00 PM, not the usual 10:00 PM evening cutoff.
Mail Funds
- ✓ Address the envelope with the inmate’s full name and booking ID.
- ✓ Send mail through USPS to: Adams County Detention Facility, P.O. Box 5001, Brighton, CO 80601.
- ✓ Do not bring mail to the front desk. The facility does not accept mail drop-offs there.
All mail, legal and non-legal, gets inspected. Don't send cash, stamps, stickers, or anything that could be seen as a security threat. Those items will get your mailing rejected. For personal items, stick to the limits: up to ten photos (5×7 maximum), up to ten pages of internet material, and up to two paperback books per mailing.
Depositing money is another way to support someone inside. Family and friends can add funds to an inmate's account for commissary purchases, phone services, and other approved expenses. One thing to know: inmates are assessed a $30 booking fee, and any money deposited will automatically have that fee deducted first.
If you're dealing with the aftermath of a criminal or critical incident, Adams County's Victim Services Unit (VSU) provides on-scene crisis intervention for victims and families 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
