How to Schedule a Video Visit at Allegan County Jail (24-hour advance required)
Scheduling a video visit at Allegan County Jail is simple once you know where to book and how far ahead to plan. Here's how to set up an on-site lobby visit or connect remotely from your own device.
Video visits at Allegan County Jail work two ways: in the video visitation room in the main lobby, or remotely from any internet device with a camera. Both require scheduling through the same system ahead of time - so plan before you head in or try to connect from home.
All scheduling goes through GettingOut. You'll also use it to create an account, add money to an inmate's telephone/visitation account, or send messages and photos. Worth setting up your login first, even if booking a visit is your only goal right now.
24-hour rule: Allegan County Jail requires visits to be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance so the inmate has time to confirm the visit.
Last-minute plans usually don't work here. Sheriff's Office staff can't relay messages to inmates about visits - inmates find out through the kiosk in their housing unit when a visit is scheduled (or when money is deposited). A full day's notice helps ensure they see the notification and can confirm.
- Go to GettingOut and create your account - You’ll use this account to schedule video visits.
- Use the same account for other basics (if needed) - GettingOut is also where you can place money on an inmate’s telephone/visitation account and send messages or share photos.
Stuck creating your account or scheduling? GettingOut (Telmate) Customer Care can help: 1-866-516-0115.
Heads up about kiosks: The Visiting Kiosk doesn't accept commissary money. For commissary deposits, use the other kiosk in the Visitation Lobby - money put in the wrong kiosk can't be transferred.
On-site video visits in the main lobby run Monday through Friday, 7:50am to 4:00pm, excluding major holidays. Visits can be scheduled starting at 8:00am, with 4:00pm as the last slot. If you want an afternoon visit, don't wait until end of day to book.
Schedule changes: Visitation hours can change at Administration's discretion. If you're working around a job or a long drive, confirm your appointment details before you go.
No phones during visits: Cell phones aren’t allowed during a visit. If a phone is seen, the visit may be terminated.
Show up without a scheduled visit? Don't count on seeing anyone that day. The 24-hour advance requirement gives inmates time to confirm through the kiosk - walk-in, same-day visits usually aren't possible.
- Check your GettingOut account details - Confirm the visit was actually scheduled for the day and time you intended.
- Call GettingOut Customer Care - If the schedule isn’t showing up or you can’t complete the booking, call 1-866-516-0115 for help.
