How to Register and Schedule Visits at Allegheny County Jail (48‑hour rule)
Visiting someone at Allegheny County Jail takes two steps: register to get on the approved visitor list, then schedule your visit at least 48 hours in advance.
Allegheny County Jail uses a two-step system for social visits. First, register as an approved visitor. Once approved, you can schedule a visit - but all visits must be booked at least 48 hours ahead. Think of it as: get on the list first, then book your time.
You can register in person at the jail or by phone. The registration numbers are 412-350-2413, 412-350-2035, and 412-350-2036. This step puts you on the approved visitor list - skip it, and you won't be able to schedule anything.
Once registered, schedule your visit online or by calling 855-208-7349. The 48-hour rule is strict: every visit must be booked at least two full days ahead. Planning a last-minute visit? That timing requirement usually gets in the way, so build in extra days when you can.
On visit day, arrive early. You need to be checked in at least 15 minutes before your scheduled time. Show up too late and you could lose your visit entirely.
ID required: All incoming adult visitors - including professional visitors - must show identification to the visitation officers in the visitation lobby before the visit will be approved.
Need to visit more than one incarcerated person? You'll have to make a separate request. Call Chief Deputy Warden Lee Estock at 412-350-2027 to be added to multiple visiting lists.
