Visits at Allegheny County Jail can be canceled for reasons outside your control: incarcerated individual movement, a facility-wide lockdown, or emergency situations. When this happens, your canceled visit doesn't automatically roll over. You'll need to reschedule for a new time.

Example: Social visits were canceled for Sunday, January 25 through Tuesday, January 27, 2026 due to expected winter weather. Attorney visits were not affected.

Confirm Before Leaving

  • Call 412-350-2035 before you leave to confirm your visit has not been canceled.
  • If you cannot get through, call 412-350-2036 to confirm your visit is still on.

Not registered as an approved visitor yet? Handle that first so you don't get turned away. You can register by phone at 412-350-2413, 412-350-2035, or 412-350-2036. Registration lines are open 7 am to 7 pm. You can also register in person at the jail during those same hours.

Once registered, schedule your visit online or by calling 855-208-7349. Plan ahead: visits must be scheduled at least 48 hours (two days) in advance.
