Getting on the Visitation List for an Allendale Inmate: What the Inmate Must Do
Getting approved to visit starts with the inmate — not you. Your loved one has to send out the official Request for Visiting Privileges (Form 19-127), and they're limited to 15 approved visitors on their list at any time.
Getting approved to visit someone at Allendale Correctional Facility starts with them, not you. The inmate has to send out the Request for Visiting Privileges (Form 19-127) to anyone they want on their list. There's a cap: each inmate can only have 15 approved visitors at a time.
Waiting to "apply"? Here's the key: you can't start this process yourself. The inmate has to initiate it by sending you Form 19-127 (Request for Visiting Privileges). That form is the application, and only inmates can provide it. So the first step is always the inmate choosing to send it to you.
- ✓ Fully complete the Form 19-127 you receive from the inmate.
- ✓ Mail the completed form to the Division of Visitation for processing.
SCDC limits each inmate to 15 approved visitors. That includes everyone - family, friends, clergy - so families sometimes have to prioritize who gets added first. If you're not on the approved list yet, you won't be able to visit until the inmate sends you the form and your application clears.
Note: Anyone on an inmate’s approved visitation list can request a virtual visit, but you’ll need to create an account through the GTL portal first.
How you submit depends on your situation. Starting June 1, 2025, adults 18 and older with a valid South Carolina driver's license can register online. Paper applications still work for adults with out-of-state licenses, anyone without computer access, and all minor children. Minors must use the paper process and include documentation verifying their relationship to the inmate.
- Get Form 19-127 from the inmate - the inmate has to send you the Request for Visiting Privileges form.
- Fill out the form completely - incomplete forms can slow down processing.
- Use the paper route if you don’t qualify for online registration - this includes adults with out-of-state licenses, adults without computer access, and all minors (with the required documentation).
- Mail the completed paper application to the Division of Visitation - Division of Visitation and I/M DT P.O. Box 212969 Columbia, S.C., 29221-2969.
Questions about the application? Call the SCDC Visitation Inquiry Line at 803-896-1838 and press 1. You can also email visitation@doc.sc.gov. If you're requesting a callback, make sure your voicemail is set up and has space for messages.
For virtual visits, start by creating an account at scdoc.gtlvisitme.com/app. Anyone on the inmate's approved visitation list can request a virtual visit once their account is set up.
