What to Know About Contact Visits at Allendale Correctional Facility (No Plexiglass)

Allendale is one of several medium-security SCDC institutions where inmates can have contact visits without plexiglass booths. Evans, MacDougall, Trenton, and Tyger River also offer this option. They join Camille Graham, Goodman, Leath, Livesay, Manning, Palmer, and Wateree River - all of which already allowed contact visits.

A contact visit at Allendale means you're in the same room as your loved one - no plexiglass barrier between you. It's closer to a normal in-person conversation than a booth visit.

The visit may feel more personal, but limits still apply. You'll need to work around the monthly visit cap and keep your group size within the rules.

General population inmates with visitation privileges get four in-person visits per month - roughly one per weekend. Up to four visitors can attend at once, so coordinate with family ahead of time if multiple people want to go.

Plan for at least one adult in your group: SCDC requires that one of the visitors be an adult.

Bringing kids? Make sure you have the right ID for their age. Children 10 and older need a government-issued photo ID. Children nine and younger need a certified long-form birth certificate.
