How to Send Money to Someone at Anamosa: Mail, Online Vendors, and Fees

Money orders and cashier's checks don't go directly to Anamosa. All incoming funds for offender commissary accounts must be mailed to the centralized banking location: IDOC Offender Fiduciary Account, 1550 L Street, Suite B, Fort Dodge, IA 50501.

Send the right type of payment, or it'll get rejected and returned. The IDOC Offender Fiduciary Account only accepts cashier's checks or money orders.

Fill out the "pay to" line exactly as Iowa DOC requires. Make cashier's checks and money orders payable to: IDOC Offender Fiduciary Account.

  • Offender name
  • Offender number
  • Sender’s name
  • Sender’s complete address

Warning: Drop-offs are no longer accepted at any institution. Money orders and cashier's checks must be mailed to the Fort Dodge address.

Prefer to skip the mail? Iowa DOC allows electronic deposits through Access Corrections. It's one of the main vendors for getting money onto a commissary account.

There's a transaction fee for online deposits. Access Corrections rates start at $3.49, and they accept Visa and MasterCard credit or debit cards.

JPay is another electronic option. Like Access Corrections and Western Union (Send2Corrections), you're making a deposit online rather than mailing a check or money order.

JPay accepts Visa or MasterCard debit and credit cards for online deposits.

JPay fees depend on how much you're sending - anywhere from $3.95 to $10.95 based on the deposit amount.

Western Union's Send2Corrections works for electronic deposits too. You can use their app or website, and you'll need a credit or debit card to complete online or in-app transactions.

Don't have a card? Send2Corrections offers a "set it up now, pay later" option. Start the transaction online or in the app, then pay in cash at a Western Union agent location using the tracking number (MTCN) they generate.

You can also deposit by phone. Call 1-800-634-3422 and choose option 2. A credit or debit card is required.

The main trade-off is speed versus fees. Mailing a cashier's check or money order avoids vendor fees, but you have to send it to the Fort Dodge address - drop-offs aren't accepted. Electronic deposits through Access Corrections, JPay, or Send2Corrections are faster and don't rely on mail, but you'll pay a service fee.

Tip: Fees add up, especially on smaller amounts. Before you submit, check the vendor's current fee - Access Corrections starts at $3.49, and JPay ranges from $3.95 to $10.95 depending on how much you send.
