How to Contact an Inmate at Facility

Visitation at Anderson County Jail is scheduled online. Don't have a computer, tablet, or smartphone at home? The jail has a tablet in the lobby you can use to access the scheduler.

First things first: make sure you're on the inmate's approved visitation list. If you're not approved, you won't be allowed to visit. Each inmate gets two 20-minute visits per week, so plan ahead. Check-in is required 20 minutes before your scheduled visit. Show up late and you may be turned away.

Note: Visitation schedules can change. Before you make the trip, confirm the current visiting hours, any special rules for your situation, and what you need to bring for check-in.

  1. Use the jail’s online visitation scheduler - Create your visit request through the scheduling site.
  2. Use the lobby tablet if you need it - If you cannot access the scheduler from home, use the tablet available in the jail lobby.
  3. Pick an available time and confirm - Choose the inmate and an open date/time, enter the requested information, and submit your request.
  • Confirm you are on the inmate’s approved visitation list before you plan to visit.
  • Check in 20 minutes before your scheduled visit time.
  • Do not arrive late. Late arrivals may be denied.

If you're coordinating visits with family, keep the limits in mind. Each inmate gets two 20-minute visits per week. Miss your scheduled time and it can be tough to make it up before the week resets.

How to Contact an Inmate at Facility

Anderson County Jail handles mail differently than you might expect. Physical mail is scanned at a central processing location, then delivered electronically so the inmate can view it on the kiosk in their cell. The facility also offers an Inmate Messaging system run through NCIC. You can send electronic messages, plus attach photos or documents, for a per-message fee. Costs are $0.25 per message and $0.35 per picture message or document.

  • Where to access the visitation scheduler (and whether the lobby tablet is available when you plan to go)
  • How the inmate’s approved visitation list is set up, and how long approval takes
  • Whether there are any exceptions to the “two 20-minute visits per week” limit
  • The check-in requirement (20 minutes prior) and how strictly late arrivals are handled

For anything time-sensitive, confirm details before you go. Check the jail's posted rules online, or call the facility directly if you have questions about scheduling, approval status, or late-arrival policies.
