What You Can't Bring to Anderson County Jail Visits (and Where to Leave It)

All personal items must stay in your vehicle during your visit. Not sure if something's allowed? Assume it isn't and leave it locked in your car before heading inside.

Certain everyday items are specifically banned from the visitation area: cameras, cellphones, handbags, and baby carriers. Even if you're thinking "just in case," leave them in your vehicle. You'll get stopped at check-in otherwise.

  • Alcohol
  • Tobacco or tobacco products
  • E-vapes
  • Matches, lighters, or any flammable substance
  • Firearms or ammunition; knives or other sharp-edge items
  • Cash/money
  • Prescription or non-prescription medications or drugs

The visitation area is a secure zone. If you have any contraband on you - including the items listed above - you'll need to remove it from the facility immediately. Better to catch it in the parking lot than at the front desk.

Realize you have something prohibited during check-in? Or staff finds it? You'll need to remove it from the facility right away. That means stopping check-in, walking back out, securing the item in your vehicle, and starting over.

Warning: Disruptive behavior or breaking visitation rules can end your visit - and get you removed from the inmate's visitation list entirely.
