Security Screening and Prohibited Items at Anson Correctional Facility

If you’re 16 or older, expect a pat/frisk search before you’re allowed to enter Anson Correctional Facility. This is part of the standard entry process, so plan for it even if you’ve visited other places before.

Visitors 16 and older also go through an electronic device search before entry. Staff may use handheld scanners or other electronic screening methods to check for contraband.

Everyone passes through a metal detector. No exceptions - even if you're just dropping something off or you've been pre-approved to visit.

Cell phones are a hard no. At Anson Correctional Facility, phones count as contraband. Show up with one, and you risk losing your visit before it starts.

Refuse any part of the search process and you'll be denied entry. There's no workaround - compliance is required to visit.

1. Leave prohibited electronics behind - Don’t bring cell phones, smartwatches, cameras, recording devices, or smart/AI glasses onto prison property for your visit.
2. Assume you’ll be screened - If you’re 16 or older, plan on a pat/frisk search and electronic-device screening before entry.
3. Make the metal detector easy to clear - Reduce metal items on you so you can pass through and clear the metal detector without delays.
4. If staff tells you to comply, comply - Refusing a required search means you’ll be denied entrance.
