Once you're there, you have a few ways to pay. At the counter or kiosk, the facility accepts cash, plus Mastercard and Visa (credit or debit). Paying at the counter? You can also use money orders and certified bank checks - just note those aren't accepted at the kiosk.
Prefer to pay online? You can do that through TouchPay, the facility's payment vendor. Online payments require a card (Mastercard or Visa, credit or debit), and TouchPay adds a processing fee on top of the bond amount. Expect to pay more than the bond itself.
Budget for the facility's $10 nonrefundable bond fee on each bond. This fee is cash only, paid in person.
Cost heads-up: If you pay online through TouchPay, the vendor adds a 3.5% processing fee to the bond amount.
Once the facility receives all required bond payments, release typically happens within six hours - barring extraordinary circumstances. If there's more than one outstanding bond, the person won't be released until every bond is paid.
Want to get someone released on a money bond? The county is clear: you only need to pay the bond amount. Bond fees, booking fees, and other debts shouldn't be required as a condition of release.
That said, some fees can still follow the case afterward - even if they don't hold up release. The $10 bond fee and the online processing fee (up to 3.5% through TouchPay) may be charged as a debt later if you don't pay them at the time of bonding.
Run into a problem - like a payment dispute or an unexplained release delay? Ask to speak with an on-duty supervisor. You can also contact Internal Affairs at 720-874-4014 or internalaffairs@arapahoegov.com to file a complaint.
