Before You Go: What You Can (and Can't) Bring Into Avon Park's Visiting Room
A smooth visit starts before you leave home. This guide covers exactly what Avon Park allows in the visiting room—and what could get you turned away at the door.
Small Personal Items
- ✓ One (1) vehicle key is permitted.
- ✓ Keyless entry devices are not allowed unless the duty warden (or designee) visually inspects the device and approves it.
You can bring one photographic ID into the visiting area. Stick to the single ID you'll use for entry - nothing extra.
Limited feminine hygiene products are allowed. Bring only what you'll need during the visit.
Want to use the vending machines? You can bring up to $50.00 in cash per visitor, regardless of age. Bills must be $1, $5, $10, or $20 denominations - other bills won't work.
You can bring prescription medication, but only the dosage you'll need during the visit. Leave extra doses at home.
Each prescription must be in its original prescribed container, and the label has to be clearly readable. The label must show the medication type, dosage requirements, and the name of the person the medication was prescribed to.
Infants Toddlers
- ✓ No more than five (5) diapers for the visit.
- ✓ Up to three (3) clear baby bottles.
- ✓ Up to two (2) toddler sipper cups.
- ✓ Up to three (3) clear plastic jars of sealed (unopened) baby food.
Don't count on a "front desk hold." Staff are not allowed to store items for visitors under any circumstances.
Bring something that's not on the approved list - or more than the allowed amount - and you'll need to secure it yourself before entering. As long as it's not contraband, you won't lose it, but finding a safe spot is your responsibility.
