First Visit to Avon Park Prison? Here's Your Complete Checklist

Don't make the trip until the inmate confirms your visitation application has been approved. If you show up before approval goes through, you'll be turned away - even if everything else is in order.

Anyone 16 or older needs a valid photo ID to enter the visiting area. Bring one photographic identification card - that's all you'll need.

First Visit to Avon Park Prison? Here's Your Complete Checklist

Dress-code

  • Wear a shirt and shoes - both are mandatory.
  • Skip Heelys and any footwear with removable parts; they aren’t allowed.
  • No halter tops or other braless attire.
  • No underwear-type T-shirts, tank tops, or fishnet shirts.
  • No see-through fabric.
  • No skin-tight clothing (applies to males and females).
  • Avoid dresses, skirts, or Bermuda-length shorts that are more than 3 inches above the knee.
  • Don’t wear military-style camouflage clothing (including jungle/green, urban/grey-black, or desert/tan-brown patterns).

Allowed-items-and-cash

  • One vehicle key (no keyless entry devices unless the duty warden or designee visually inspects the device and approves it).
  • One photographic identification card.
  • Limited feminine hygiene products.

You can bring up to $50.00 cash per visitor (any age), but only in $1, $5, $10, and $20 bills. That cash is for vending machine snacks and beverages in the visiting area, and anything you buy must be purchased and consumed in the visiting area.

Visiting hours run Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and weekdays from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM (Central Time). Traveling from a different time zone? Double-check your timing before you leave.

  1. Plan to arrive before processing starts - entry processing for visits begins at 8:15 AM (7:15 AM Central).
  2. Don’t cut it close in the afternoon - no visitors are processed after 2:00 PM (1:00 PM Central), even if visiting hours run later.
