What to Bring to Your Visit at Avon Park (and What to Leave in the Car)

Avon Park is strict about what you can bring into the visiting area. Anything not specifically authorized - or over the allowed amount - gets flagged as "unauthorized," and staff will turn you away. Keep it simple: bring one vehicle key and your required photo ID. That's it for most visitors. If you have a keyless entry fob, it's not automatically allowed. The duty warden or designee has to visually inspect it and confirm it's your only way to access your vehicle and doesn't pose a security risk. Limited feminine hygiene products are permitted, but only department-authorized items. Not sure if something qualifies? Leave it in the car. Better safe than stuck at the entrance.

Quick key reminder: You can bring one vehicle key. Keyless entry devices are only allowed after visual inspection and approval by the duty warden or designee.

  • If you’re 16 or older, bring one (1) photographic ID card.
  • Limited feminine hygiene products are allowed (department-authorized items only).

Want to use the vending machines? Each visitor can bring up to $50 in cash - small bills only. That means $1, $5, $10, and $20 denominations. Everything you buy has to be consumed in the visiting area. No taking items out, no passing anything along. Plan accordingly: this cash is for snacks and drinks during your visit, nothing else.

You cannot give money directly to an inmate during a visit - under any circumstances.

  1. Choose an approved payment type - use a US Postal money order, cashier’s check, or certified bank draft.
  2. Send it to the appropriate Service Center - that’s the required route for funds intended for an inmate.

Infant Items

  • No more than five (5) diapers
  • Up to three (3) clear baby bottles
  • Up to two (2) toddler sipper cups
  • Up to three (3) clear plastic jars of sealed (unopened) baby food

For baby food: It must be sealed (unopened) and in clear plastic jars, and you’re limited to three jars.

Staff won't hold items for you - not even temporarily. If something isn't authorized, it needs to stay locked in your car or left somewhere else before you walk in.
