Setting Up a Securus Calling Account for Bacon: Pre-Paid vs. Debit Options

If your loved one is at Bacon and calls go through Securus, you'll need to choose between a pre-paid account (funded by you) and a debit calling account (funded by the inmate). Here's how each works so you can pick the one that fits your situation.

Setting Up a Securus Calling Account for Bacon: Pre-Paid vs. Debit Options

To receive calls through Securus, you'll set up a pre-paid collect or direct bill account. You can do this on the Securus Technologies website or by calling 1-800-844-6591. This is the way to go if you want to handle the funding yourself rather than relying on your loved one's commissary balance.

Deposit cap: Deposits to pre-paid collect accounts are limited to a maximum of $200.00 per deposit.

The other option is debit calling, which the inmate funds. With this setup, they transfer money from their trust account to a Securus debit calling account in $1 increments. The money has to be in their trust account first - then they move it over in small amounts to cover calls.

With a pre-paid collect account, you're not limited to one phone number. You can add multiple numbers to a single account - handy if you want calls to reach your cell and home phone without managing separate accounts.

The key thing about debit calling is how the money moves. Inmates transfer funds from their trust account to their Securus debit account in $1 increments. This lets them shift smaller amounts as needed instead of moving a big chunk all at once - as long as their trust account has funds to draw from.

Choose Option

  • If you want to fund calls from the outside, set up a Securus pre-paid collect or direct bill account through the Securus website or by calling 1-800-844-6591.
  • If your loved one will be paying for calls, debit calling uses their trust funds - offenders can transfer money from their trust accounts to Securus debit calling accounts in $1 increments to complete calls.
  • Plan your budget around the pre-paid deposit limit: deposits to pre-paid collect accounts are capped at $200.00 per deposit.

Not sure which to choose? Start with a smaller pre-paid deposit and see how quickly it gets used based on how often you talk. Keep in mind that deposits are capped at $200.00 each, so if you want to add more than that, you'll need to split it into multiple deposits.
