Start by submitting a visitation request through the GDC visitation/request form. This is the official channel, and the sooner you submit, the better - especially for weekends or state holidays when deadlines come up fast.

Want to visit on Saturday or Sunday? Your request must be in by 5:00 PM on Wednesday of that same week. Miss the Wednesday cutoff and you're out of luck until the following weekend.

For state-holiday visits, the deadline is 5:00 PM three days before the holiday. So if the holiday falls on a Monday, you'd need to submit by 5:00 PM on Friday. Count back three days and mark your calendar.
