Results include people in prison, on parole or probation, interstate transfers, and some who escaped or absconded—but records legally withheld from public disclosure won't appear. MDOC keeps offender information on OTIS for three years after discharge, so someone released more than three years ago may no longer show up. Baraga Correctional Facility operates under Michigan's Correctional Facilities Administration, which runs state prisons and oversees prisoner transportation and classification. When someone is released from Baraga, parole and probation supervision shifts to the Field Operations Administration (FOA). FOA has offices in every Michigan county and manages statewide supervision programs—including electronic monitoring, specialized sex-offender caseloads, quick responses to technical parole violations, and Interstate Compact coordination. Parole release decisions come from the Parole Board, a ten-member panel appointed by the Director. The board considers parole after someone has served their minimum sentence and also recommends commutation and pardon requests to the Governor.
