How to Create a TDCJ Visitation Scheduler Account (for Baten Unit visitors)

TDCJ staff can't create an account for you - that part is on you. Once your account exists, staff can help with updates (like changing your name or address). But if you're stuck at the starting line, focus on getting the account created first.

1. Click “Create an Account” - you’ll see this on the scheduler login screen.
2. Enter a valid email address - use an email you can open right now, because you’ll need it immediately.
3. Check your email for the verification message - TDCJ sends a message with a 7-digit validation code.
4. Use the link/code to finish registration - follow the email instructions to complete your account setup.

Registration includes a background questionnaire and profile section. Answer every required question before moving on - skip something, and the scheduler may flag your profile, forcing you to go back and edit. For your password, follow the on-screen requirements exactly or you'll get blocked at the final submit.

With your account created, you can add the person you want to visit. Enter their TDCJ number or SID number as exactly eight digits. Miss one digit or add an extra, and the search won't find them.

Once you find the right person, select your relationship from the "Inmate is My…" dropdown and hit "Request Approval." This sends your request to the inmate's unit for staff verification. Adding an inmate isn't instant - it triggers a review step by the unit.

Common Stumbles

• ✓ You’re trying to have staff create your account - they can’t. Create the account yourself first; staff can assist with updates after the account exists.
• ✓ Your phone number won’t save - retype it as XXX XXX XXXX with spaces and no dashes.
• ✓ The inmate search isn’t finding anyone - double-check the TDCJ/SID number is exactly 8 digits (no more, no less).
