How to Set Up Your TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler Account (avoid these common mistakes)

You have to create your own TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler account - unit staff can't do it for you. Once the account exists, staff can help update your information (names, addresses, that sort of thing). But first-time registration? That's on you. If you're helping a family member who isn't comfortable online, just make sure the account is created under their information, not yours.

Choose your email address carefully - it's permanent. Once an account is created with an email, that account can't be deleted and the email can't be changed. Use one you'll keep long-term and can reliably access, since you'll need it to log in and complete registration.

  1. Submit your email address - enter the email you want tied to the account and submit it.
  2. Check your email for the registration message - the system sends you an email right after you submit.
  3. Use the 7-digit validation code or the link - the email includes a 7-digit validation code and a link that takes you back to finish setting up the account.

During setup, you'll hit a Background Questionnaire. Every question must be answered before you can move forward - leave anything blank and you're stuck. Slow down here. Answer everything in one sitting so you don't have to backtrack.

When filling out your visitor profile, enter your phone number exactly like this: XXX XXX XXXX - spaces, no dashes. So "210 555 1234," not "210-555-1234." Phone number getting rejected? This formatting is almost always why.

When adding the incarcerated person to your profile, the TDCJ/SID number must be exactly 8 digits. Too many digits, too few, or anything other than numbers - the system won't find a match.

  • Use the TDCJ Offender Search feature on the TDCJ website if you don’t know the person’s TDCJ/SID number.
  • Look the person up by name in Offender Search.
  • Copy the 8-digit TDCJ/SID number exactly as shown, then enter it when you add the inmate to your profile.

After you request to add an inmate, don't expect to schedule immediately. Your request sits in "Relation Requests Pending Approval" until TDCJ staff review it. Once approved, the pending status clears and you'll see scheduling as an option.

Warning: If the relationship is confirmed but visitation privileges have been removed, the scheduler shows "Not Approved for Visits" instead of a Schedule Visit button. See that message? Call the unit to find out what needs to be cleared up.
