What to Do When the Visitation Scheduler Says 'Call Unit' (for Baten Unit visitors)

Seeing “Call Unit” where you expected a “Schedule Visit” button usually means you can’t finish booking that visit online. For Baten Unit visits, the next step is simple: call the inmate’s unit of assignment and schedule the visit by phone.

The most common reason? The unit hasn't verified your relationship to the inmate yet. When you request to add an inmate to your profile, that request gets sent to the inmate's unit of assignment for staff verification. Until they approve it, online scheduling stays locked. Calling the unit gets you a straight answer.

• ✓ Whether the inmate currently has visitation privileges (and whether anything is preventing scheduling right now)

A pending relationship status isn't something you can fix by clicking around the scheduler. Your request goes to the inmate's unit of assignment, where staff verify the connection. Call the unit directly - it's the fastest way to find out if verification is still in progress, if something needs correcting, or if you're just waiting in the queue.

Always call before you travel. Even approved visitors can be temporarily restricted when rule violations or security concerns come up. Unit-wide visitation can also shut down during lockdowns, escapes, disturbances, or health emergencies. A quick phone call can save you a wasted trip.

When you call, it helps to know the basic timing rules staff are working with. Standard contact visitation runs Saturday and Sunday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The visit cycle starts Monday and ends the following Sunday - normally, an eligible inmate gets one visit per cycle. Each visit is two hours, and the clock starts when both the inmate and visitor(s) are present. Staff will let you know what openings are actually available within those limits.
