What You Can Bring Into Baten Unit's Visiting Room
Pack light for your visit to Baten Unit. You can bring a small wallet, a clear Ziploc-style bag, or a change purse - that's it. Money must be coins only, $35 max. Leave paper bills in your car or at home; they're not allowed past the secured perimeter.
Note: Bring coins only, and keep it at $35 or less. Don’t bring paper cash into the secured perimeter.
Infants
- ✓ Up to three diapers (for infants/small children)
- ✓ A supply of baby wipes
- ✓ Up to two baby bottles (or a sippy cup for toddlers)
- ✓ A clear plastic bag (Ziploc-type) to store the infant items
Bringing an infant or toddler? Pack smart. Diapers, wipes, and bottles must go in a clear plastic bag. Toddlers can use a sippy cup instead of bottles, which tends to make things easier.
Prohibited
- ✓ Purses
- ✓ Diaper bags
- ✓ Paper money (bills)
- ✓ Cell phones
- ✓ Pagers
- ✓ Laptop computers
- ✓ Cameras

These restrictions exist to prevent contraband and keep the line moving. Your safest bet: skip the purse or diaper bag entirely and leave electronics behind. Anything prohibited should stay at home or locked in your vehicle before you approach the secured perimeter.
Reminder: Bills can’t go inside - coins only, up to $35 total.
Expect your vehicle to be searched. All cars on TDCJ property are subject to inspection, so lock your doors, windows, and trunk. Not sure what to leave behind? Keep it simple - lock up anything you're not taking with you.
Truck-bed tip: Keep the bed clear of tools, clothes, or anything that could be used as a weapon or to aid in an escape, and secure any tools you must carry.
