How to Schedule Your First Visit at Baylor Women's Correctional Institution (BWCI)

BWCI assigns visitation days by housing unit (as of May 1, 2023). Units 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 visit Sunday through Tuesday. Units 3 and 4 visit Thursday through Saturday. The facility runs visits seven days a week, but here's the catch: you're always scheduling for the following week. When you call, you're reserving a specific day and time slot in advance.

  • 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.
  • 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
  • 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.
  • 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Call the Visitation line at (302) 577-5837 to schedule. The line is only open Monday through Wednesday, 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M., and appointments are for the following week. Don't wait until Thursday or Friday to call - you'll miss the scheduling window entirely.

Info Before Call

  • Offender’s SBI number (SBI#) and/or date of birth (DOB)
  • Each visitor’s birth date
  • Each visitor’s address
  • Each visitor’s telephone number
  • Have all of this ready before you dial - if you can’t supply it, the visit will not be scheduled.

Arrive at least 15 minutes early. That gives you time for check-in and security screening without rushing - or worse, missing your slot.

Practical Call Tips

  • Write down your loved one’s SBI# and/or DOB before you call so you’re not searching mid-conversation.
  • Make a quick list of every visitor you’re scheduling, with each person’s birth date, address, and telephone number.
  • Call Monday–Wednesday during the 9:00 A.M.–3:00 P.M. window; if you work those hours, try using a break, lunch period, or a quick call-back window.
  • Keep a pen and paper handy to record the day and time you’re given, then repeat it back before you hang up.
  • If you can’t get through, try again later within the same scheduling window - busy lines happen, and spacing out attempts often works better than rapid redialing.
  • Don’t call until you’re ready to commit to a specific day/time for the following week - having your preferred options in mind helps the call go faster.
