How to Visit Baylor Women's Corr. Institution, DE (DE)

Baylor Women's Correctional Institution runs a unit-based face-to-face visitation schedule. Units 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 visit Sunday through Tuesday. Units 3 and 4 visit Thursday through Saturday (effective May 1, 2023). All face-to-face visits fall into one-hour time slots: 8:30 to 9:30 am, 10:30 to 11:30 am, 12:30 to 1:30 pm, and 2:30 to 3:30 pm.

You can't just show up. Face-to-face visits must be scheduled in advance by calling (302) 577-5837. The scheduling window is Monday through Wednesday, and the facility books visits for the following week.

Most inmates can also have one video visit per week on top of a face-to-face visit. Video visits are paid and scheduled through the facility's video visit scheduling system, so you'll need to set that up separately from your in-person reservation.

Note: Visitors may be subject to a background check before entering a level 5 facility. If a check turns up certain convictions, active warrants, present probation, probation within 5 years of release, or incarceration within 10 years of release, you may be barred from visiting.

  1. Call to schedule your visit. Reserve your face-to-face visit by calling (302) 577-5837 Monday through Wednesday, since visits are scheduled for the following week.
  • If your loved one is in Units 5–9, plan for face-to-face visitation Sunday through Tuesday.
  • If your loved one is in Units 3–4, plan for face-to-face visitation Thursday through Saturday.
  • Choose an available one-hour time slot: 8:30–9:30 am, 10:30–11:30 am, 12:30–1:30 pm, or 2:30–3:30 pm.
  • If you want a video visit in addition to an in-person visit, schedule it through the facility’s video visit scheduling system.
  • Expect to pay for the video visit when you schedule it.

Note: Visitors may be screened with a background check. If you have an active warrant, present probation, probation within 5 years of release, incarceration within 10 years of release, or certain past convictions, confirm your eligibility before you travel.

Before you make the trip, confirm the schedule for the unit and the available time slots. Currently, face-to-face visits assign Units 5–9 to Sunday through Tuesday and Units 3–4 to Thursday through Saturday, with time slots at 8:30–9:30 am, 10:30–11:30 am, 12:30–1:30 pm, and 2:30–3:30 pm. The easiest way to verify is to call the same scheduling number you use to reserve the visit.

Confirm the phone scheduling window before you count on it, especially around holiday weeks. The facility's standard policy is that visits are scheduled by phone Monday through Wednesday for the following week.

If video visits are part of your plan, confirm the current allowance and cost when you schedule. The facility allows most inmates one video visit per week in addition to a face-to-face visit. Video visits are paid and scheduled through the facility's scheduling system.

  • Ask whether you will be subject to a background check before entering the facility.
  • Confirm what records can disqualify a visitor, including active warrants, present probation, and certain past convictions.
  • If your history includes incarceration within 10 years of release or probation within 5 years of release, confirm whether that will bar you from visiting.
  • Ask what, if anything, you can provide ahead of time to avoid being turned away after you arrive.
