What Attorneys Need to Bring and Do Before Visiting Someone at Bayside State Prison

Attorney visits at Bayside State Prison happen during normal business hours, but security comes first. Expect requirements around advance notice and admission procedures - staff need time to arrange the interview without disrupting facility operations.

One hard stop: if you (or your attorney representative) appear on any Departmental

Request your interview at least 24 hours in advance. You can submit a written notification or call the incarcerated person's housing facility Administrator directly. This lead time lets staff confirm space, staffing, and the person's availability.

  • Name of the attorney or attorney representative
  • Name of the incarcerated person to be interviewed
  • Name of the attorney for whom the representative is acting
  • Date and time of the requested interview

Bring appropriate identification. Attorneys and attorney representatives must present valid ID before admission - make sure you have what the facility accepts before you arrive.

Even with an approved attorney visit, the facility can restrict or prohibit contact visits based on the incarcerated person's behavior. If the correctional facility administrator (or designee) determines the person is acting out or poses a safety risk, staff may limit the visit format.

Contact visits can also be denied based on the visitor. If you're viewed as a threat to security or facility operations, staff may deny a contact visit. And anyone on a Departmental

If a contact visit is denied, the facility will try to arrange a non-contact visit instead - assuming it can be done without disrupting operations. You may still get your meeting, just in a more controlled setting.
