Before Your First Visit to Bent County: A Complete, Facility‑Specific Checklist

Getting approved to visit Bent County starts with submitting a visiting application through the Colorado DOC Private Prison Monitoring Unit (PPMU). You can mail your application to PPMU at CDOC Headquarters in Colorado Springs, or email it to Doc_PPMU_Visiting@state.co.us. Give yourself time - approvals take about 45 days on average. Scheduling your actual visit is a separate step. Once approved, email bccfvisiting@corecivic.com to request a visit date. Submit your application as early as possible, then move to scheduling once you get the green light.

  • A copy of a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID (the address on the ID must match the address on your visiting application, or the application may be denied)

ID and Docs

  • A copy of a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID to submit with your application (the address must match your application)
  • AR Form 300-01B (Offender Visitor Consent to Search Authorization) to complete when you arrive; it stays on file for one year

Anyone 18 or older needs valid picture ID to get in. Bring the physical card - photocopies and digital IDs won't be accepted.

Expect a wait. Bent County visitor approvals take about 45 days on average, so your first visit will likely be weeks out from the day you apply.

Approval isn't permanent. Active visitors go through a background check every year. If you go a full year without visiting, you'll be removed from the list and need to reapply.

Before Your First Visit to Bent County: A Complete, Facility‑Specific Checklist
  1. Go on the right days - Bent County visiting days are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
  2. Aim for the correct window - Visiting hours run from 10:00 am to 3:50 pm.
  3. Arrive early for processing - The facility begins processing visitors at 9:30 am, before visiting hours.
  4. Don’t count on holiday exceptions - Holidays are not exceptions to the visiting schedule.
  5. Plan to stay once you’re in - If you leave during your visit, you won’t be allowed back into the facility that day.
  • Valid, physical picture ID if you’re 18+ (no photocopies or digital IDs)
  • Completed AR Form 300-01B (Offender Visitor Consent to Search Authorization); it remains on file for one year

Note: At facilities housing medium or higher custody offenders, visitors (except children under three) must have the back of their right hand stamped with an ultra-violet marker before entry.

Staff enforce the dress code under DOC visitation rules and can cancel your visit if your clothing doesn't meet requirements. A dress code violation can also trigger a suspension after review - 30 days for a first offense, 90 days for a second, and one year for a third.

Physical contact has clear limits. A short embrace and brief closed-mouth kiss are allowed only at the beginning and end of the visit. Holding hands is fine during the visit. If you're bringing an infant, breastfeeding is permitted only in designated areas. Don't bring or attempt to pass contraband. Introducing contraband means permanent suspension of in-person and/or contact visitation - no warnings, no second chances. Other violations can lead to suspensions of 30 days, 90 days, or one year depending on how many times you've been cited.

Warning: Introducing contraband can permanently end your in-person and/or contact visitation privileges.
