What to Expect at Bent County Check-In: UV Hand Stamp, Consent-to-Search, and Visitor Conduct
Bent County check-in can feel intense your first time — especially if you're not expecting a hand stamp or search procedures. Here's what happens when you arrive, what you're agreeing to when you sign in, and the rules around contact during your visit.
Bent County is a level III (medium-custody) facility, so every in-person visitor gets the back of their right hand stamped with an ultra-violet marker before entering. Kids under 3 are the only exception.
That stamp isn't just for show. On your way out, staff will check it with a black light to confirm you're the same person who checked in.
You'll also need to complete AR Form 300-01B, the Offender Visitor Consent to Search Authorization. Signing this form is required - without it, you won't get in.
Once you've signed AR Form 300-01B, it stays on file for one year. After that, you'll need to fill out a new one before your next visit.
Expect standard security screening. Anyone entering DOC grounds - along with their vehicle and belongings - can be inspected or searched as needed.
Warning: If you refuse to submit to any entrance or visiting procedure (including searches), you’ll be denied entry and required to leave DOC property immediately.
Physical contact in the visiting area is limited. A short embrace and brief closed-mouth kiss may be allowed at the start and end of your visit.
During the visit itself, holding hands is allowed.
Note: Breastfeeding is allowed only in designated areas identified in the facility’s procedures.
Practical Checklist
- ✓ Expect an ultra‑violet hand stamp on the back of your right hand (children under 3 are the exception)
- ✓ Be ready to complete AR Form 300-01B (Offender Visitor Consent to Search Authorization) before you enter
- ✓ Assume you, your vehicle, and anything you bring onto the grounds may be inspected/searched
- ✓ Don’t argue or refuse entrance/visiting procedures - refusal means you’ll be denied entry and told to leave immediately
Build in a little extra patience. Staff will check your UV stamp with a black light before you leave, and they expect you to follow procedures the entire time you're on the property. Refuse any part of the process, and you can be removed immediately.
If you visit more than once, remember the consent form timeline. AR Form 300-01B is valid for one year - after that, you'll need to complete a new one before going back in.
