Tablet Funds vs. Trust Fund: Two Separate Accounts at Berks County Jail

Berks County Jail runs two separate money systems, and mixing them up is easy to do. Money added through GettingOut goes toward tablet-related purchases only. The inmate trust account is something different entirely - that's for day-to-day jail spending like commissary, and it runs through ConnectNetwork.

Commissary orders come out of the trust account. Inmates place weekly orders using their tablet or a kiosk, and the cost gets debited from the trust account - not the tablet-funds account.

Want to pay for tablet purchases specifically? You'll need to use GettingOut's separate website. Deposits made there are strictly for tablet use and won't show up as spending money in the inmate's trust account.

If the person you're supporting gets discharged with money still in their GettingOut tablet account, you'll need to request a refund through GettingOut Customer Care. Call 866-516-0115 to start that process after discharge.

To deposit into the inmate trust account (the one commissary draws from), go through ConnectNetwork online or by phone at 1-888-988-4768. Berks County Jail uses Site ID #61.
