What to Expect During Check-In at Berks County Jail: Parking, Intercom, and ID
The hardest part of visiting Berks County Jail isn't the visit itself — it's check-in. Here's what to expect so you can park in the right spot, breeze through the lobby, and avoid getting turned away.
Park only in a numbered visitor space. The jail requires visitors to use these designated spots - parking anywhere else isn't allowed.
Reminder: Bring proper photo ID. If you’re 18 or older, you’ll need a valid picture ID that shows your current address.
You'll need to arrive in a vehicle and keep it on the property for your entire visit. Drop-offs aren't allowed - you can't have someone drive you there and leave while you wait.
- Report to the lobby door - go to the lobby entrance when you’re ready to check in.
- Press the intercom button - use the button at the lobby door.
- Check in with the lobby officer - speak with the lobby officer through the intercom to complete check-in.
Timing tip: Don’t show up too early - visitors must arrive no more than 15 minutes before the scheduled visit time.
Photo ID is required for all visits. If you're over 18, your ID must be valid and show your current address - double-check before you leave home.
