What to Know Before Your First Visit to Berks County Jail (arrival & parking checklist)
Your first jail visit goes smoother when you know the few rules that can derail it. Use the timing, parking, and arrival checklist below to show up prepared—and in the right place.
Schedule your visit by phone before you go. Call (610) 208-4800, select option 3 for
On visit day, don't show up too early. You can arrive no more than 15 minutes before your scheduled time - plan your drive and parking around that window.
Know where to park before you arrive. Visitor parking is on the 1st level of the lot, and you must use a numbered visitor space.
No drop-off visits: You must arrive in a vehicle, and that vehicle must remain on the property for the entire visit.
Bringing kids? Plan for constant supervision from the moment you arrive. Children cannot be left unattended anywhere on jail property - don't count on waiting in the car while you check in or stepping away for even a minute.
Visitors under 18 have specific requirements. They must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and they must be the inmate's child, stepchild, sibling, or grandchild.

- ✓ Schedule your visit by calling (610) 208-4800 (option 3 for “visitation”) and speaking with a receptionist (Mon–Fri, 8:30am–3:00pm)
- ✓ Schedule no later than 3:00pm the day before (no same-day appointments and no walk-ins)
- ✓ Arrive no more than 15 minutes before your scheduled visit time
- ✓ Park on Level 1 in a numbered visitor space
- ✓ Arrive in a vehicle and keep it on the property for the full visit (no drop-offs)
- ✓ If you’re 18 or older, bring a valid photo ID that shows a current address
- ✓ If you’re under 18, come with a parent/guardian and make sure you’re the inmate’s child, stepchild, sibling, or grandchild
