Who can visit an inmate at Berks County Jail: how the approved visitor list works

You can only visit someone at Berks County Jail if you're on their approved visitation list. No exceptions. Even close family members and longtime friends need to be listed and approved first.

Warning: Walk-in visits aren't allowed. You must be scheduled ahead of time - showing up and hoping to get in won't work.

The approved visitor list is controlled by the inmate. They have to request your name be added - Treatment Staff won't add you just because you asked. Trying to help someone else visit? Same rule applies. The inmate needs to request every addition.

One eligibility rule catches people off guard: if you've been incarcerated in the Berks County Jail System within the past two years, you won't be allowed to visit. If that's you, plan on staying in touch through other methods instead.
