Your Free Weekly Video Visit at Berrien County Jail: What It Covers and How to Use It

Berrien County Jail provides one internet visit per week free of charge. To use it, you’ll need to set up your visitation account and schedule the visit through the GTL site at berrien.gtlvisitme.com.

A couple of eligibility rules can trip you up. You must be at least 18 to schedule an internet visit. Each visit allows up to three visitors total, but at least one must be an adult.

Free or paid, the format stays the same: internet visits run in 20-minute blocks. When you're not using your free weekly session, visits cost $10 each - paid by the visitor.

Your free visit counts toward the jail's overall limits, so it helps to plan your week. An inmate can have up to two internet visits per day and ten per week total. Families wanting more contact can add paid sessions around the free one. Internet visit hours are Monday–Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturday & Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. You might want to save your free visit for a high-demand slot - like a weekend evening - and use paid visits for less competitive times.

Your Free Weekly Video Visit at Berrien County Jail: What It Covers and How to Use It
  1. Create your GTL visitation account - Use berrien.gtlvisitme.com to set up your account so you can see available times and request a visit.
  2. Plan within the scheduling window - You can schedule up to 5 days in advance, but you must schedule at least 1 day prior to the visit.
  3. Lock in the free weekly visit early - Since you only get one free internet visit per week, try to reserve that session as soon as your preferred day opens up in the 5-day window, then add any paid visits you need around it.
  • Choose a time within internet visit hours (Mon–Fri 1:00 p.m.–5:30 p.m.; Sat & Sun 9:00 a.m.–10:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.–8:30 p.m.).
  • Keep your group to three visitors or fewer, and make sure at least one visitor is an adult.
  • Make sure the person doing the scheduling is at least 18.

Note: Internet visits are monitored, and inappropriate behavior can get the visit terminated. If it’s a paid visit, you can still be charged even if it ends early.

The free visit follows the same rules as paid ones - no special leniency. Since it's only 20 minutes and you only get one per week, be mindful of your conduct. Losing that time means waiting another week.
