How to Get on the Visitor List at Beto Unit (Step-by-Step)

You'll need your own TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler account to get on the visitor list. TDCJ staff can't create visitor accounts for you - that part is on you. Once your account exists, staff may help update basic information if you run into issues, but the initial setup has to come from your end.

  1. Start account creation with your email - In the scheduler, choose the option to create an account and enter a valid email address.
  2. Open the email from TDCJ - After you submit your email, you’ll be sent a message that includes a 7-digit validation code and a registration link.
  3. Use the code and link to finish registration - Follow the link and enter the 7-digit code when prompted to complete your account setup.

The scheduler requires an 8-digit TDCJ (SID) number when you add the inmate to your profile. Don't know it? Use TDCJ's Offender Search to find the correct number before submitting your request. Being off by a single digit can stop the process cold.

Once you find the right person in the scheduler and select your relationship, you'll submit a Relationship Request. That request goes to the inmate's unit for verification by TDCJ staff. Until the unit confirms it, your request stays pending - clicking "Request Approval" doesn't mean you're approved.

Note: Visitation information is updated daily and can change. Call the unit for final confirmation before you travel.

Here's something that catches people off guard: inmates can only have 10 names on their Visitors List. If the list is already full, someone has to be removed before you can be added.

Changes to the Visitors List aren't unlimited. For institutional inmates, the list can only be changed once every six months. Plan ahead before anyone swaps names on and off.

The timing is different for state jail, ISF, and SAFP inmates: Visitors List changes can happen once every 60 days. If you're trying to get approved and the list was just updated, you may need to wait for the next change window.

Problems Appeals

  • Call the unit if you need final confirmation before traveling.
  • Call the unit if the scheduler isn’t showing the options you expect (for example, buttons missing or you can’t move forward).

Removed from an inmate's Visitors List? You can appeal, but the clock starts fast. Submit a written appeal within 14 days of the date on your removal notice. Send it to the Director's Review Committee (DRC), PO Box 99, Huntsville, TX 77342.
