Posting Bond at Bexar County's Booking & Release Satellite Office (what to expect)
Trying to clear an active warrant and post bond? Bexar County's Booking and Release Satellite Office offers a faster option for some cases — but it won't accept every warrant type. Here's how to know if you can use it, what to bring, and what to expect once you're there.
The Booking and Release Satellite Office won't process warrants for violent offenses. If your warrant falls into that category, skip the satellite office - you'll need to go to the alternate intake location instead.
Warrants for sexual offenses can't be handled here either. Even if you're turning yourself in voluntarily, the satellite office won't process the bond for these charges.
Crimes against children? The satellite office can't process those warrants. Plan to handle processing at the designated intake annex instead.
Out-of-county and out-of-state warrants aren't processed here. Even if you're physically in Bexar County, these warrant types go through the other processing location.
Where to go instead: If the warrant is for a violent offense, sexual offense, a crime against a child, or an out-of-county/out-of-state warrant, processing must be done at the Bexar County Justice Intake and Assessment Annex at 200 N. Comal, San Antonio, TX 78207.
Before you go anywhere, call the Booking and Release Satellite Office at (210) 335-2592 to verify the warrant is active. One phone call can save you a wasted trip - and confirms you're heading to the right place for your warrant type.
While you're on the phone, confirm that a bond amount has already been set. The satellite office can't process your bond until that amount is entered in the system.
Magistration runs Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. That's a tight one-hour window - don't arrive late.
There's also an afternoon window: Monday through Friday, 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. It's only 30 minutes, so treat it like an appointment, not drop-in hours. Being early matters.
The Booking and Release Satellite Office is in the basement of the Bexar County Courthouse at 100 Dolorosa St. B10.2, San Antonio, TX 78205. Make sure you're heading to the courthouse basement - that's where the satellite office operates.
What to Bring
- ✓ Bond paperwork from the bondsman or attorney (if you’re working with one)
- ✓ A valid photo ID
- ✓ Your cell phone and charger (you’re required to provide 2 references)
Posting a cash bond? Payment options are limited: cashier's check or money order only, made payable to the "Bexar County Sheriff's Office." They don't accept cash, traveler's checks, or personal checks. There's also a $15 money order processing fee per bond. Since payment rules and fee details don't always match up across different county pages, call (210) 335-2592 before you go to confirm exactly what you need for your situation.
Plan for about three hours. Don't stack other commitments right after - rushing through this process just adds stress.
Plan ahead: There’s no restroom available once you’re in custody. Use the restroom before you enter the office.
Only the defendant can stay in the processing area - children aren't allowed in the office. No photos, no recordings, no food or drinks.
While in custody at the satellite office, you'll be leg-ironed and handcuffed. If it's your first time, that can be jarring - but it's standard procedure while paperwork and bonding are completed.
