Posting Bond & Using Bexar County's Booking and Release Satellite Office: What to Expect and What to Bring
Bexar County's Booking & Release Satellite Office can save you a trip to the Adult Detention Center—but only if your warrant qualifies and the paperwork is already in the system. Here's how to confirm you're in the right place, what to bring, and what to expect once you arrive.
Before heading to the Booking and Release Satellite Office, confirm your warrant is one they can handle. This office won't process warrants for violent offenses, sexual offenses, or crimes against children. Out-of-county and out-of-state warrants are also off the table. If your warrant falls into any of these categories, you'll need to go to the Bexar County Justice Intake and Assessment Annex at 200 N. Comal instead.
Call before you go: Call (210) 335-2592 to verify the warrant is active in the system and that a bond amount has been set. The satellite office can’t process a bond without an active warrant and a bond amount in the system.
The Booking & Release Satellite Office is in the basement of the Bexar County Courthouse at 100 Dolorosa St. B10.2, San Antonio, TX 78205. If you need to confirm warrant status or ask a question before you arrive, call (210) 335-2592.
Magistration at the Booking & Release Satellite Office happens Monday through Friday in two windows: 8:00 a.m.–9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.–1:30 p.m. Plan your arrival around those times if you want the smoothest experience.
Plan for a wait: Processing takes about 3 hours, so build in time for transportation and anything else you need to handle while you're there.
What to Bring and Custody Experience
- ✓ Bond paperwork from the bondsman or attorney (if you’re working with one)
- ✓ A valid photo ID
- ✓ Two references (you’re required to provide 2 references)
- ✓ A $15 money order processing fee for each bond (see the fee note below and verify by phone)
Once you're in custody at the satellite office, expect restraints - defendants are leg-ironed and handcuffed per policy. There's no restroom access once you're in custody, so use the restroom before you enter. The processing area is for the defendant only. No children can remain in the office. No photos or recordings of any kind, and no food or drinks in the processing area.
Posting a cash bond? You'll need the full bond amount by cashier's check or money order only, made payable to "Bexar County Sheriff's Office." Cash, traveler's checks, and personal checks aren't accepted. Bring a valid ID too - staff require it for bond transactions.
Fee check: Published guidance mentions a $15 processing fee for surety bonds (sometimes described as a $15 money order per bond). The wording varies, so call ahead to confirm whether the fee applies to your bond type and how many money orders to bring.
