What to Know During Your 20-Minute Video Visit at Bexar County
A video visit goes fast—especially the first time. Here's what to expect during a 20-minute session at Bexar County so you can focus on your loved one, not the rules.
Each video visit at Bexar County lasts 20 minutes. A timer on your screen shows how much time remains, so you can pace the conversation and cover what matters most before the session ends.
Video visits are monitored and recorded. Keep that in mind when sharing sensitive family updates - stick to what you'd be comfortable saying in a non-private setting.
Note: All visits are monitored and recorded. Questions about this policy? Contact the Video Visitation Center (details in the troubleshooting section below).
Anyone 17 or older must be registered and show a valid, government-issued photo ID at check-in - a driver's license, state ID card, or military ID works. One catch: Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) identification cards are not accepted for video visitation check-in here.

Kids can join a visit, but supervision rules are strict. Minors 16 and under may visit on open visitation days, and children under 16 must always be supervised - no exceptions. If you're bringing children, plan ahead so you can handle check-in and the full visit without leaving anyone unattended.
Bexar County caps how many people can join a single visit: either up to two adults and one minor child, or one adult and up to two minor children. If more family members want to see your loved one, you'll need to schedule separate visits.
The person who schedules the visit is considered the primary visitor. That same person must be present at check-in and must be there for the visit itself, so don’t schedule it under one person’s name and send someone else to attend.
