Education & Degrees at Bibb County Correctional Facility: Vocational Training and the BTS Seminary Program

Vocat Programs

  • Carpentry (offered through Ingram State Technical College)
  • Plumbing (offered through Ingram State Technical College)
  • HVAC (offered through Ingram State Technical College)
  • Electrical (offered through Ingram State Technical College)

Bibb's vocational programs run through Ingram State Technical College. The documented trades - carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical - are skills that translate directly into employment after release. For someone looking for a clear, practical path into work, these programs offer exactly that.

Bibb also hosts the Birmingham Theological Seminary (BTS) Prison Initiative Program. It's an intensive, two-year ministry training program for inmates in Alabama's corrections system, built around structured study.

Getting into the BTS program isn't as simple as signing up. Every other year, 15 inmates are interviewed and selected from prisons across the state, then transferred to Bibb to take the seminary classes. Participation depends on that selection cycle.

The program has real outcomes. At one graduation ceremony held at Bibb, ten inmates received certificates through the BTS Prison Initiative.

Four inmates at Bibb have also earned Masters of Arts in Biblical Studies through the BTS Prison Initiative.
