How to Put Money on an Inmate's Account at Moore Unit
Sending money to someone at Moore Unit is straightforward once you know who can send it, what payment types work, and how long certain deposits are held.
Before you send funds, confirm you're eligible. Effective September 1, 2020, only people on the inmate's approved visitor list or Inmate Telephone List can deposit money. If you're not on one of those lists, your deposit may be rejected. Check your status before sending anything.
Mailing funds? Use a money order or cashier's check, and include a completed deposit slip. Send both to: Inmate Trust Fund, PO Box 60, Huntsville, TX 77342-0060. Missing the deposit slip slows things down, so double-check it's filled out before sealing the envelope.
- ✓ Cash is not accepted for inmate accounts and will be returned to the sender.
- ✓ Personal checks are not accepted for inmate accounts and will be returned to the sender.
Plan ahead for larger deposits. Any single deposit of $500.00 or more is held for 14 days before the inmate can access it. That same 14-day hold applies to certain check types - insurance, company, payroll, and estate checks all fall under this rule.
Set up ACH monthly debits from a personal checking account? The debit happens on or around the 5th of each month. The credit posts to the offender's account around the 10th - so don't worry if you don't see it right away after the debit date.
Buying commissary items through eCommDirect instead of depositing money? There are quarterly spending limits for approved friends and family. Effective July 1, 2022, the caps are $70 for January–March, $70 for April–June, $70 for July–September, and $95 for October–December (Holiday Spend). Fees and details can change, so check the eCommDirect FAQ before placing an order.
