Sending Mail to Someone at Moore Unit: The Digital Mail System Explained
Sending letters, cards, or photos to someone at the Moore Unit? Here's the key thing to know: all mail goes through TDCJ's digital mail system. You'll send it to a processing center where it gets scanned and delivered digitally.
Starting September 6, 2023, the Moore Unit switched to TDCJ's digital mail platform - along with every other TDCJ facility. Your letters, greeting cards, and photos no longer go directly to the unit. Instead, they're sent to a processing center, scanned, and uploaded so the inmate can view them on a secure tablet.
Mail your letter, card, or photos to the TDCJ Digital Mail Processing Center - not directly to the Moore Unit. Make sure the envelope is clear and complete: include the inmate's full first and last name, their TDCJ number, and the exact PO Box address listed. This ensures your mail gets matched to the right person.
- ✓ Texas Department of Criminal Justice
- ✓ Inmate’s full first and last name + TDCJ number
- ✓ PO Box 660400
- ✓ Dallas, TX 75266-0400
If the person you’re writing to doesn’t have a tablet, they can still receive your mail. In that case, TDCJ provides black-and-white printed copies of their scanned correspondence.
Tips Addressing Expectations
- ✓ Write the inmate’s full first and last name and their TDCJ number on the address
- ✓ Send personal letters, cards, and photos to the TDCJ Digital Mail Processing Center (PO Box 660400, Dallas, TX 75266-0400)
- ✓ Expect your mail to be processed through the digital mail system (in place across TDCJ units since September 6, 2023)
Note: Since September 6, 2023, personal mail goes through TDCJ's digital scanning system. Not sure if something will be accepted? Check the current unit and TDCJ mail rules before sending.
