What You Can't Bring to a Visit at Bledsoe (and What to Expect at Security)

Everyone visiting Bledsoe Corrections Facility - adults and kids alike - needs appropriate clothing and footwear. No spandex or spandex-type fabrics. Nothing transparent or see-through. If you're not sure an outfit will pass, pick something else. Getting turned away over clothing is frustrating, and it's completely avoidable.
No smoking or vaping: Smoking or vaping of any kind is prohibited on state property when you’re visiting TDOC facilities, including Bledsoe.
Expect security screening before you reach the visiting room. At Bledsoe, all visitors go through multiple checkpoints, including a body scanner. This is why packing light matters. You can only bring your valid photo ID and car keys or key fob into visitation. Everything else - phones, smart watches, wallets, other personal items - stays locked in your vehicle.
Tip: Keep your photo ID and keys easy to grab. Leave everything else locked in your car before heading to the entrance - extra items slow you down at the body scanner.
If the visitation area has vending machines, expect a debit card system - not cash. You'll need to buy or reload a vending card in the lobby before entering visitation. Handle that first if you want snacks or drinks during your visit.
