Why You Can't Send Books or Magazines to Blue Ridge Regional Jail Right Now

Blue Ridge Regional Jail Authority (BRRJA) isn't accepting books, magazines, or newspaper subscriptions right now - and the policy is in place "until further notice." This applies to items sent through the mail and outside deliveries, so ordering a book or subscription for your loved one will likely be refused.

This fits with how BRRJA handles all inmate mail now. Everything gets scanned at a contracted offsite facility, then delivered electronically through the tablet system - no physical mail changes hands. Legal mail is the one exception: it's copied with the inmate watching, the original is destroyed, and the copies go directly to the inmate.
