What IDs Will Be Accepted for Visits at Tulare County Facilities (Avoid Getting Turned Away)
Show up without the right ID and you'll be turned away at check-in. Use the lists below to make sure you have an accepted, current photo ID before you go.
For an on-site visit at Bob Wiley Detention Facility, you'll need to show a current, valid photo ID when requesting approval. Staff check it right then - no valid ID, no visit.
Acceptable Forms
- ✓ U.S. Driver’s License (current and valid)
- ✓ U.S. Identification card (current and valid)
- ✓ U.S. Active Military ID (current and valid)
- ✓ U.S. Resident card (current and valid)
- ✓ U.S. Passport (current and valid)
- ✓ U.S. government issued ID card (must include a photograph or fingerprints, and have issue and expiration dates)
Rejected IDs
- ✓ Mexico Voter card
- ✓ Any expired ID
- ✓ Photocopies of ID or a birth certificate
- ✓ School ID
- ✓ Non-U.S. ID
- ✓ Indian Reservation ID card
- ✓ Matricula Consular ID
- Check your expiration date - if your ID is expired, it won’t be accepted, even if it’s the “right type” of ID.
- Don’t rely on copies or paperwork - photocopies of IDs and birth certificates aren’t accepted for visitation approval.
- Bring an accepted, current U.S. ID instead - if what you have is a school ID, a non‑U.S. ID, an Indian Reservation ID card, or a Matricula Consular ID, plan to get one of the accepted U.S. IDs before you go.
