How to Add or Remove Someone from an Inmate's Visitors List at Boyd Unit

The Visitors List is exactly what it sounds like - the official roster of people approved to visit an inmate during visiting hours. Each inmate can have up to 10 people on their list. If the list is full, adding someone new means removing someone else first.

Institutional inmates can only add or remove names once every six months. Be strategic about changes - if you swap someone out and then change your mind, you'll have to wait until the next update window.

State jail, ISF, and SAFP inmates have a shorter window: they can update their list once every 60 days. Not sure which category applies? Keep this timing difference in mind when planning changes.

How to Add or Remove Someone from an Inmate's Visitors List at Boyd Unit
  1. Open the TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler and start your visitor profile - this is where you submit the request to be connected to an inmate for visitation.
  2. Search for the inmate using their TDCJ/SID number - the number you enter needs to be exactly 8 digits.
  3. Choose your relationship and submit the Relationship Request - after you confirm and submit, the request is sent to the inmate’s unit of assignment.
  4. Wait for unit staff to verify the relationship - TDCJ staff at the unit review the Relationship Request and verify the visitor/inmate relationship as part of the approval process.

Note: The inmate's TDCJ/SID number must be exactly 8 digits. Missing or extra digits will cause your request to fail.

Been removed from someone's Visitors List? You can appeal in writing to the Director's Review Committee (DRC). Mail your appeal to: Director's Review Committee (DRC), PO Box 99, Huntsville, TX 77342. You have 14 days from the date on your written removal notice to submit it.
