Who Can Deposit Money for an Inmate at Boyd Unit (and How to Verify)
Want to put money on someone's trust fund account at the Boyd Unit? First, make sure you're actually allowed to send it. Texas changed the rules in 2020, and now only approved people can make deposits.
Since September 1, 2020, Texas restricts deposits to people already connected to the inmate through official approval lists. You can only send money if you're on the inmate's approved visitor list or their Inmate Telephone List.
Not sure if you're authorized? Check whether your name (or phone information) appears on the inmate's approved visitor list or Inmate Telephone List. The easiest approach: call the Boyd Unit directly and ask staff to confirm you're on the list before attempting a deposit.
Deposit Methods
- ✓ Monthly checking account debit (ACH) - free service provided by TDCJ
- ✓ Access Corrections (Secure Deposits)
- ✓ ACE (America’s Cash Express)
- ✓ eCommDirect (Texas.gov)
- ✓ JPay
- ✓ TouchPay Payment System
Once you're approved, you have several deposit options. TDCJ accepts ACH transfers and multiple third-party payment systems. Most families pick whatever fits their situation best - automatic monthly ACH for regular support, or online and retail payment options for one-time deposits.
- Write the payee exactly like this - “Inmate Trust Fund for Offender Name and Number.”
- Use the inmate’s name and TDCJ number - include both in that payee line so the deposit is credited to the right person.
