How to Address Mail and What You Can Send to an Inmate at Branch County Jail (Postcard Rules)

Branch County Jail has a strict postcard-only policy. Inmates can only receive plain white postcards that are metered (not stamped) and no larger than 6" x 8". Letters, greeting cards, and anything else won't make it through.

Postcard writing rules: Write in pencil, blue ink, or black ink only. If the writing (or the mail piece itself) doesn’t meet the jail’s requirements, it will be returned to the sender.

Expect all mail to be inspected. Branch County Jail screens incoming and outgoing mail for contraband and anything that could threaten facility safety or security.

Don't try to pass messages between incarcerated individuals. Branch County Jail prohibits inmate-to-inmate mail, and any such correspondence will be destroyed.

Thinking about mailing stamps or paper? Don't. At Branch County Jail, stamps, writing instruments, paper, and similar supplies must be purchased through the jail commissary.

Mail that doesn't follow the rules gets returned if there's a return address. No return address? The item goes into the inmate's property locker until release - meaning it won't be delivered while they're in custody.
