Video Visits at Branchville: How to Connect from Home and What It Costs

Branchville uses the Indiana Department of Correction's ViaPath system for all visitation, including video visits. To confirm video visits are currently offered, check the IDOC visitation page and follow the ViaPath/GTL prompts to select Branchville. Before you can schedule anything - in-person or online - you'll need to create a ViaPath account and get approved as a visitor.

One thing that catches people off guard: ViaPath displays all visit times in Eastern Time, regardless of where you're located. Double-check the start time before confirming your appointment.

  1. Create your ViaPath account and get approved - you must be registered and approved before you can schedule any in-person or online visit.
  2. Go to the GTL/ViaPath scheduling site - start at gtlvisitme.com.
  3. Register everyone who will be visiting - add yourself and any other visitors who will participate.
  4. Select the facility and find your loved one - choose the facility where they’re housed, search for the incarcerated individual, and add them to your account.
  5. Schedule the visit - click “Schedule” and pick an available time.
  6. Pay when you schedule - enter a credit card or debit card to complete the booking.

Reminder: ViaPath schedules all visits in Eastern Time, even if you and the facility are in a different time zone.

For at-home video visits, preparation is everything. Log in to the scheduling site 15 minutes early to test your connection and follow the on-screen prompts. On-site video visits work more like a standard appointment - arrive at the facility at least 15 minutes before check-in with a valid photo ID.

  • Register for ViaPath/GTL and schedule your visit through gtlvisitme.com
  • For at-home visits: sign in 15 minutes early, test your connection, and follow the prompts to start
  • For on-site visits: arrive at least 15 minutes early for check-in
  • Bring a valid photo ID for on-site video visits

Even though you're on camera instead of in a visiting room, dress standards still apply. Wear a shirt or blouse with pants, shorts, or a dress, and appropriate undergarments. Hats and head coverings aren't allowed unless required for religious reasons. Clothing can't be torn or see-through enough to expose undergarments.

Note: Some clothing rules are only necessary for in-person visits, but the video-visit dress standards listed here still apply.

Remote video visits are charged to the visitor. Current rates are $3.30 for a 10-minute visit and $8.25 for a 25-minute visit (fee schedule effective August 17, 2022).
