Before You Visit Brazoria County Jail: What to Wear, What ID to Bring, and When to Register

At a Glance

  • Bring a valid photo ID (current state-issued picture ID/driver’s license, valid passport, Armed Forces ID, or a DPS ID card/current paper driver’s license)
  • Dress modestly: no tube tops, halter tops, spaghetti-strap tops/dresses, low-cut or see-through tops, or clothing showing gang affiliation
  • Keep bottoms to the knee: shorts, dresses, and skirts must be at the knee
  • Wear shoes (required)

When in doubt, dress more modestly than you think you need to. And double-check that you have a valid photo ID before you leave the house.

You'll need a valid photo ID to visit. Accepted forms include a current state-issued ID or driver's license, a valid passport, an Armed Forces ID card, or a Texas DPS ID card (including a current paper driver's license).

The jail enforces a modest dress code, and certain items will get you turned away. Tube tops, halter tops, and spaghetti-strap tops or dresses aren't allowed. Women wearing tank tops must wear a brassiere underneath. Anything displaying gang affiliation is prohibited. Avoid revealing clothing - no low-cut or see-through tops. Shorts, dresses, and skirts must reach the knee.

Reminder: All visitors are required to wear shoes.

If you're borderline on any rule - a dress that rides up when you sit, a top that's lower-cut than you remembered - plan ahead. Bring a cover-up or change outfits before you leave. A small adjustment can save you from being turned away.

Register no later than 15 minutes before the visitation period ends. Show up too close to the cutoff, and you may miss your visit entirely - even if you're already on-site.

  1. Arrive with time to spare - you must be registered at least 15 minutes before visitation ends.
  2. Register at Male Visitation first - all visitors must start there before going to the designated visitation area.
  3. Fill out the visitation form - use the form provided at the visitation area to complete your registration.
  4. Proceed to the designated visitation area - once you’ve registered and completed the form, follow directions to the correct area.

Bringing someone under 18? They must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian - no exceptions.

Keep kids close: All children must be under supervision at all times while visiting.
