Before Your First Visit to Brazos County Jail: A Checklist for Families
Your first visit goes much smoother when you handle the must-dos ahead of time. Use this checklist to avoid the most common reasons visits get delayed or denied at Brazos County Jail.
You can't just show up at Brazos County Jail and hope to get in. Both onsite and video visits must be scheduled online through the facility's service provider website. Book your reservation before you leave the house - or before you plan to log on for a video visit. Even if you've visited other jails that accept walk-ins, treat scheduling as required here.
Every authorized visitor needs a current, valid government-issued driver's license or ID card - including minor children. Staff use that ID to confirm who you are. Don't assume a child can tag along "with you" without their own valid government-issued ID.
Plan your group size carefully. Brazos County Jail allows a maximum of two visitors per inmate, per visit - one adult and one child. Show up with extra people, and you'll have to decide who goes in and who sits out. The upside: there's no cap on total visits an inmate can have, so you can rotate visitors across different visits if your family needs to take turns.
Brazos County Jail enforces a dress code for visitors. Plan an outfit that meets the facility's visitation dress code before you go - otherwise you risk being turned away at check-in.
Your information has to match exactly - down to spelling. The jail's Authorized Visitor List must include each visitor's name exactly as it appears on their driver's license or ID card, plus the correct street address. If someone goes by a nickname, uses a middle name sometimes, or recently moved, double-check what's on their ID and use that. Staff will compare it against your ID at the visit.
- ✓ Full legal name entered exactly as it appears on the visitor’s driver’s license or ID card
- ✓ Correct street address entered for each visitor (not a P.O. box or an old address)
- ✓ Spelling checked carefully (first name, middle name/initial if shown on ID, last name, suffixes)
