Sending Mail to Someone at Brazos County Jail: Which Address to Use and Why

Brazos County uses two separate addresses for inmate mail. Send to the wrong one, and your letter gets rejected. Match the address to your mail type, and it'll get through.

Here's the breakdown: regular letters - the kind your loved one actually reads - go to Smart Communications' PO Box, not the jail itself. The detention center's Bryan address handles legal mail and publications only. Mix them up, and your mail gets returned.

Note: Brazos County is strict about this. Take a minute to confirm you're using the right address for your mail type before sending.

Sending Mail to Someone at Brazos County Jail: Which Address to Use and Why

For general mail (reading mail), address your envelope to Smart Communications: Smart Communications/Brazos Co Det Center (Inmate's Name & SO #) PO Box 9147 Seminole, FL 33775-9147

  • Use the Smart Communications PO Box for reading mail only.
  • Do not send money orders to the PO Box address.
  • Do not send packages to the PO Box address.
  • Follow the facility’s posted mailing instructions so your letter is accepted.

Legal mail and publications go to the Bryan detention center address. Include the inmate's name and SO#: Inmate's Name & SO# 1835 Sandy Point Rd Bryan, TX 77807

Sending books or magazines? They must ship directly from a distributor, and the content has to be pre-approved by the detention center.

Heads up: Wrong address means returned mail. Use the PO Box for general letters, the Bryan address for legal mail and publications. Double-check before you send.
